A Roman military object from London in the Pitt-Rivers Collection in the Salisbury Museum

Graham Webster

The Pitt-Rivers Collection contains a remarkably fine military apron terminal said to have been excavated in London. It is unusual in that it retains the stud which once fastened it to the strap, and this appears to bear traces of gilding. The object is yet another to add to the growing collection of military equipment of the Claudian period found in London.
